(2nd Sunday of Easter) “Discovering Easter”
Rev. Sandra K. Olewine, preaching from: 1 Peter 1:3-9 and John 20:19-31
In the culture around us, Easter is one day – a day of chocolate bunnies, colored hard-boiled eggs, beautiful hats, and a lavish dinner. But, for people of faith, Easter is so much more. It is a season lasting seven weeks. We hear stories from now to Pentecost about how the Easter truth disrupted and restored lives. But, in reality, Easter is also more than a liturgical season. We experience Easter anytime we experience the gift of life out of death, the gift of love overcoming hate, and the gift of forgiveness overcoming fault. Resurrection happens time and time again if we are attuned to its presence.
