Children's Ministry
First United Methodist Church has a long tradition of quality programs for children and their families. Under the leadership of Associate Pastor Debbie Gara, an active year-round program provides enriching Sunday School experiences for infants through sixth graders. Sunday School begins at 9:00 a.m. each Sunday (September through June). Occasional special assemblies and parties add variety to the program. A winter camp for grades 1-6 takes place each January at Camp Sky Meadows. Children's Choirs (see Music Ministry) provide music experiences each Sunday during worship. A special Summer Sunday School program meets at 10:00 a.m. (concurrent with Worship) late June through August.
Youth Ministry
A dynamic program is available for youth grades 7-12. Under the leadership of Youth Council President Cheri Ehrlich, President of Youth Fellowship Kayla Staats, and Associate Pastor Allison Mark, weekly activities provide opportunities for fellowship, study, and service. A winter retreat, summer drama program, summer camp and choir tour complement the weekly program. Sunday School classes meet at 9:00 a.m., music programs rehearse Sunday afternoons (see Music Ministry) and Youth Fellowship gathers every Sunday evening at 6:45 p.m. for dinner and a variety of programs and activities. Youth also have opportunity to participate in the church video ministry, acolyte program, and Boy Scout Troop 27.
A detailed brochure and full-year calendar are available through the Church Office.
