Fifth Sunday of Easter-Mother’s Day

Rev. Sandra Olewine, preaching on “A Disciple’s Toolbox”
primary text: John 14:1-14

Rev. Olewine offers her brief meditation following “All People are God’s People – the story of the Woman at the Well,” this year’s Mother’s Day children pageant.   It tells the story of Jesus when he met the Samaritan woman at the well. It’s a story as relevant today as it was when Jesus led his disciples by example. The Samaritans and the Jews looked at each other with suspicion and fear. While they held many beliefs in common, they had many different beliefs as well and these caused the two peoples to avoid each other. Jesus’ meeting with the woman at the well reminds us today that, as Jesus taught his disciples, God’s love is for everyone.
